The establishment of the industrial park in Kisii is expected to open up a wide range of development projects in a remote area that has long been overlooked since independence. The new investment will attract improved infrastructure, better access roads, enhanced utilities, and increased economic activity that will uplift the surrounding communities.
In addition, the project will create both short-term and long-term job opportunities, offering meaningful employment for youths and women through construction work, skilled labour, support services, and entrepreneurship opportunities linked to the park’s operations.
Kisii County is one of Kenya’s 47 counties, established by the 2010 Constitution to decentralize governance. Situated in the former Nyanza Province, it’s a densely populated region known for its fertile land, making agriculture its primary economic driver.
