The Kisii County Government has disbursed KShs.135 million in education bursaries to needy students. The list of beneficiaries is available on noticeboards in all ward offices. Any issue(s) on the cheques should be referred to the Sub County accountants. Beneficiaries should collect cheques from their respective ward administrators who are secretaries to the ward bursary committees.
A total of 41,639 students in Day Secondary Schools, National Schools, Boarding Schools, Universities and other tertiary institutions benefitted from the allocation. Bursary Committees in each of the 45 wards received and considered applications before recommending the beneficiaries for consideration for allocation by the County Bursary Board. Each ward was allocated KShs.3 million up from KShs.1million in the previous financial year.
The objective of the Fund is to provide bursaries to financially disadvantaged or needy students in the county, including persons with disabilities, who deserve support to pursue their education at recognized schools and educational institutions.
