Governor Ongwae has lauds the Red Cross Society of Kenya for the good work they do in the counties

Kisii Governor James Ongwae has lauded the Red Cross Society of Kenya for the good work they do in the counties.

Governor Ongwae appreciated the humanity movement that the society is in addressing Healthcare, disaster management and education issues across the country.

“We continue to have strategic partnerships in Health and human development, education and the areas of water and sanitation and disaster management,” added Ongwae.

He said his government and the KRCS will institutionalize their partnerships for efficient offer of service.

The governor spoke when he flagged off a consignment of 16,500 pairs of shoes that will be given to pupils in 45 schools across the county, under the office of the County First lady Mrs. Elizabeth Ongwae.

Mrs. Ongwae has been engaging in programs that ensure children from poor backgrounds stay in schools to improve transition rate from primary to secondary.

She said the partnerships have bolstered the work of giving back to society and ensuring the girl child is in school.

The Red Cross has earlier in the formative stages of the county government partnered in offering ambulatory services that improved patient referrals to hospitals. Kisii County has since acquired its own ambulances for each of the sub county hospitals and the Referral hospital.

Red Cross regional chairman Gerald Onyango said it is alongside their mandate to partner with counties and ensure clean water and sanitation, continuous education, health and human development and disaster management in the counties.

The team also used the opportunity to inaugurate into office the newly elected County chair of the Kenya Red Cross Mr. Douglas Arege and other officers. Education CEC Dr. Skitter Ocharo, Chief Officers Education and Culture Mr. David Okebiro and Beatrice Mochama respectively attended the ceremony.
