Kisii County Governor James Ongwae has announced plans of his administration to revive youth polytechnics across the county.
Ongwae said the facilities will be upgraded and equipped with necessary tools to enable them deliver the highest standards of technical trainings.
Ongwae who was accompanied by area Member of Parliament Richard Onyonka said youth polytechnics provide avenues for school leavers to upgrade their skills and knowledge.
Speaking at Nyaore and Nyamondo youth polytechnics in Kitutu Chache South sub county, Ongwae noted that if well managed, such institutions play a crucial role as they ease the school-to work transition for many primary and secondary school leavers.
They gave a total of Ksh 3 million to upgrade Nyamondo polytechnic. Ongwae stated that Nyaore polytechnic will also be made a model institution for Nyanza region.
The two said they have scheduled a meeting with all heads of the institutions Principals in to plan on how best to manage the facilities.
Ongwae said his government is equipping polytechnics in all wards adding that tutors will be employed to help the youths in the institution.
Ongwae and also promised to upgrade several dispensaries among them Mosocho and equip them with necessary tools in bid to bring health services closer to people. They said they will jointly build Matieko dispensary in Bogisero ward.
The Governor and the MP said they will closely work together to ensure that electorates get better services adding that residents are only interested in development. ends.
