Kisii County will host this year’s edition of the Kenya Inter-County Sports and Cultural Association and County Assemblies Sports Association (KICOSCA/CASA).
Today, Machakos County Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua handed over the KICOSCA ceremonial chain and the peace torch to his Kisii counterpart James Ongwae after he was installed the 2018 Patron in a colourful ceremony that took place at the Kisii County headquarters.
The event was also attended by Kisii County Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, KICOSCA national governing council officials, County Executive Committee Members and Chief Officers from various counties.
Machakos County hosted the 5th edition of the games last year and has now handed over the baton to Kisii County with the games set to begin on August 12th to 19th 2018.
Over 8,000 participants drawn from all 47 Counties will converge in Kisii and compete in 16 various disciplines including football, athletics, volleyball, ajua, tug of war, cultural dance, badminton, draught and table tennis.
Governor Ongwae thanked the KICOSCA National Governing Council for awarding the hosting rights to Kisii County and assured them that the county as ready to host the games.
On his part, Dr Mutua who was flanked by four MCAs lauded the organizers for staging a successful games in Machakos and exuded confidence that Kisii would meet the expectations.
