Farmers in Kisii will benefit from a model resource and training centre courtesy of the World Bank and the County Government.
The centre will provide training facilities to the farmers on an all-round capacity building in livestock, crop production, fisheries, agroforestry, agri-business among other value chain.
Speaking when he laid a foundation stone for the construction of the centre, governor James Ongwae disclosed that the model centre will enhance and increase farmers’ knowledge on agricultural production and value addition in line with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Big 4 Agenda.
“My administration is working towards realization of the President’s Big 4 Agenda on food security,” said Ongwae adding that it will benefit both farmers and agricultural officers.
The single storey centre will comprise of a podium with a sitting capacity of 800, a library, training boardrooms including a computer server room, store rooms for training exhibits, kitchen and serving area with detailed dry and cold storage facilities, lavatories both for gents, ladies and people with disabilities, elaborate gentle reinforced concrete ramp and spacious stair cases.
