Unveilining of County Flag, Logo and Emblems

H.E Governor James Ongwae today led leaders and residents of Kisii County in a ceremony to hoist the County flag at the Gusii Stadium.

Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, MPs Richard Onyonka (Kitutu Chache South) and Zebedeo Opore (Bonchari), Members of County Assembly (MCAs) led by Speaker Kerosi Ondieki, County Executive Committee members (CECs) were among the leaders present.

This is in line with Article 4 (1) of the County Governments Act, 2012 which provides that every County Government should enact legislation prescribing the county flag, the county coat of arms and the county public seal.

The County flag has three colors; Blue color symbolizes that the sky is the limit for the County; White color represents peace and unity; Green symbolizes the rich agricultural potential of the County.

This implies that we are a people who embrace hard work through our agriculture. A County Flag, Coat of Arms and Public Seal are instruments that signify identity and the exercise of authority. Through these symbols, Kisii County now has an identity.
