H.E Governor James Ongwae today inspected several development projects being undertaken by the County Government in Nyaribari Chache Sub County.
Governor Ongwae commissioned Amasago water Project which will serve several insitutions including Amasago Primary and Secondary schools, Keumbu polytechnic, Keumbu Level Four Hospital, Keumbu market and Sub County Headquarters.
The project situated at Amasago Secondary School will also serve more than 5,000 households in the area.
Governor Ongwae said his administration is committed to ensuring sustainable access to safe drinking water to all residents.
He announced that stalled water projects in the sub County like Birongo Community Water project, Nyaura Gravity Water Project, Kionganyo borehole, Kabobo Gravity Water project and Nyanguru water project will be rehabilitated to enable residents to have water within proximate distances.
He said boreholes will be drilled in all wards within the sub county adding that institutions like Nyamecheo, Irondi, Matunwa, Nyanko, Kiamabundu in Ibeno, Birongo, Kiogoro, Bobaracho and Kisii Central wards respectively have been identified for the projects that are expected to serve the entire ward.
“I am determined to have water reticulation programs to serve institutions and households. There are a number of water schemes that need to be revived to enable resident access this crucial commodity with ease,” said Ongwae.
The Governor also visited Keumbu Level Four hospital where he recently commissioned a minor theater.
He said the facility will soon have more diagnostic equipment and a mortuary.
“We want to decongest the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital by fully equipping our Level Four hospitals. The Keumbu Level Four Hospital used to have only one doctor but my administration has employed five more. We want to improve access to medical service,” said Governor Ongwae.
Earlier in the day , the Governor launched a hospital bus at KTRH, which will go a long way to improve quality of service within the Hospital and all health facilities within the County.
The Governor was accompanied by County Executive Committee Members (CECs) in charge of Administration Peris Onsarigo and his Roads counterpart John Omwoyo, Chief Officers Alice Abuki and Ongoncho, Members of County Assembly Kennedy Michira (Keumbu), Josphine Ombati (nominated) Godfrey Nyamache (Birongo), Samuel Apoko (Kiogoro), Samuel Nyangenya (Bobaracho), Charles Nyagoto among other officers.
Later the Governor commissioned bodaboda sheds at Keumbu market and inspected the ongoing Keumbu bus Park.
Adressing residents at Keumbu market, Ongwae promised to increase street lights at the County headquarters to support a 24 hour economy.
