Governor receives a consignment of books

Kisii County Governor James Ongwae today received a consignment of books donated by Scope International and the Israel Embassy.

 

The Governor said the 100,000 books would be distributed to 32 public primary schools spread across the county adding that such initiatives go a long way in complementing efforts of the County Government in education sector.

 

The Governor received the consignment from the Chairman Scope International Kenya Chapter Mohan Madhu and Country Director Lilian Samwel.

 

Ongwae who was accompanied by his Deputy Joash Maangi, County Executive Committee (CEC) members John Omwoyo (Education), Peris Onsarigo (Administration, Corporate Services and Stakeholders Management) Kodek Omwancha (Finance) Marcella Otuke (Culture, Youths, Sports and Social Services) among others said the donation will be a major boost to literacy and promote a reading culture among learners.

 

The Governor thanked the Israel Ambassador to Kenya Yahel Vilan saying the country has partnered with the County Government in various sectors like Agriculture, Health and Education.
