Socio-Economic Atlas Launched in Kisii County

The Kenya National Bureau of Statistics has launched a socioeconomic atlas in Kisii County.

The new atlas offers a high resolution spatial depiction and analysis of data collected in the recent population census.

During the launch that took place at Dados Hotel in Kisii Town, County Secretary and Head of Public Service Johnstone Ndege appreciated the technical support from KNBS saying the new atlas will assist in planning and resource mapping.

Senior officials from Nyamira, Homabay, Migori and Kisii County witnessed the launch.

The atlas was developed by KNBS in conjunction the Centre for Training and Integrated Research in Arid and Semi Arid Lands and Centre for Development Environment at the University of Bern in Switzerland.

The combination of geographic and socio- Economic data enables policy makers at all levels, development experts and other interested readers to gain a spatial understanding of dynamics affecting Kenya.
