Kisii County Governor James Ongwae signed the supplementary budget 2020/2021 that will enable the county government to implement government programmes. 

The supplementary budget that was passed by the county assembly comes in the wake of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic which severely affected the county revenue streams, calling for requisite adjustments. 

Ongwae noted that counties have challenges of late disbursement of funds from the exchequer.

“Besides we recorded reduced revenues due to tax waivers we accorded to cushion our traders, boda boda riders, and mama mbogas” said Ongwae.

The governor said, to address the deficit, the county has formed a taskforce to streamline revenue collection across the county.

In the new supplementary budget, noted Ongwae, the county has realigned its priorities to key areas including water, roads, health services, urban infrastructural development, agriculture and fixing a tartan track at the Gusii Stadium. 

Ongwae who was accompanied by Acting Kisii County Assembly Speaker Amos Onderi and members of the assembly Budget Committee thanked the county assembly for working closely with the executive to realize the supplementary budget to enable the county offer services to the people.
