Governor James Ongwae has urged all Kisii County residents to register for Huduma numbers in large numbers in order to get government services at ease.

Speaking after launching the National Integrated Identity Management System (NIIMS) popularly known as Huduma number outside his office, Governor Ongwae noted that individuals who will fail to register during the ongoing exercise will miss crucial government services.

He told residents that they will be identified using a unique number, which will help them while seeking government services.

“With the Huduma Number, you will not need to have and walk with all personal documents like Identity card, National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) card, driving license, Birth Certificate, National Social Security Fund(NSSF) in your wallet. Once registered, you will access any government service from any part of this country,” said Ongwae.

The Governor also observed that the number will significantly reduce cases of identity cards theft and inconveniences of replacing them and make financial and property transactions more secure.

“Huduma Namba is a huge milestone for the country for it will help in the fight against graft, as each person’s details will be captured digitally,” he said.

The governor who was accompanied by his Deputy Joash Maangi, County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi, County Secretary Patrick Lumumba among other senior County and National officers noted that leaders across the political spectrum including President Kenyatta, NASA leader Raila Odinga and others like Kalonzo Musyoka and Musalia Mudavadi have all come out publicly to be captured in the system as they have understood the significance of this exercise.

The County Commissioner said NIIMS will help government in planning besides fighting corruption and fraudulent dealings.

The Deputy Governor dismissed claims that the Huduma Number is not demonic and that is not linked with the satanic 666 code that was prophesied by Apostle John in the Bible and urged all to register.
