Team hails Kisii County preparedness in Covid 19 management

The National Multi-Agency Covid – 19 Command Centre has applauded the efforts made by Kisii County Government in the fight against the novel Corona virus.

As directed by the President, the county has set aside 310 bed capacity isolation centre including a 10-ventilator unit in preparation for any Covid -19 case that may arise.

While touring the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital which houses the County’s biggest isolation and treatment center, a team from the command centre led by Dr. Emmanuel Okunga noted that the steps being taken by the county government will go a long way in providing care and treatment for persons with symptoms related to Covid – 19.

“This is a great stride forward in terms of preparedness as far as the Covid – 19 pandemic is concerned. We are satisfied that the county government is in a good position in dealing with the situation.”

He continued, “particularly the investment in the production of oxygen in the facility which is a very integral component in the fight against Covid – 19 is a testament that the County Government is well prepared.”

Governor James Ongwae has consequently assured the public that the County is fully prepared to manage the Covid – 19 disease and has urged the public to follow the guidelines that have been provided by the Ministry of Health.

The team also held consultative engagements  with the County Executive  for health Dr Sarah Omache and County Secretary Patrick  Lumumba.

The two county officials praised the consultative approach employed by the national  and county governments in managing the Covid 19 pandemic.
