Governor Ongwae injects Shs. 30m to start factory

Residents of Sombogo have a reason to smile with the injection of Ksh. 30 million to start a tea factory.

While touring development projects in Kitutu Chache North, Governor Ongwae said that all the necessary demands by Government authorities have been met setting the pace for commencement of the project.

The National Environmental Management Authority (Nema) has given the project a green light after completing the impact assessment.

Residents of Kitutu Kitutu Chache who have been taking their tea to the neighboring Kitutu Masaba in Nyamira county in Tombe received the news with huge relief. They asked the Kisii county government to fast track the project to benefit the residents.

“The Kenya Tea Development Authority (KTDA) and Tombe factory have both given the irrevocable authority that sets the grounds for the setting up of the factory, ” added Ongwae.

The factory has been a talk in the last ten years with plans by previous leadership all hitting a snag in its construction.

Ongwae emphasized that his government, which has been in power for only three years, was focused on the sole mandate of delivery of service to the people.

Governor Ongwae told off his critics who are questioning his legacy to look at the projects he has initiated for three years cannot be comparative to what national government has done to Kisii for the last 53 years.

He added that he will not be distracted by voices of criticism saying when the time for politics come he will stand tall and defend his legacy.

The Governor also visited Marani level 4 hospital where he donated medical equipment and drugs to assist in the treatment of patients. He inspected the ultra modern market in Rioma and later addressed a public Baraza at the Marani sports grounds. CECs Roads, Agriculture, Lands, Urban Planning and Housing and Administration and Stakeholders Management accompanied him.
